Maria Callas never sang Manon Lescaut on stage, but she recorded the complete opera for EMI in Milan from July 18 to 27, 1957.  John Ardoin wrote of this recording, "[W]hat a wealth of insight and beauty of characterization is . . . to be had from this set.  Of recorded Manon Lescauts, only Callas achieves a full poignant sense of Prévost's French heroine in her Italian setting."
