"[I]t is remarkable to discover obscure music that can measure up to the greatest," writes Ian Bostridge in an article about French baroque music at guardian.co.uk.
Article by Ian Bostridge about The Tempest, 6 February 2004, at guardian.co.uk
"Mr. Bostridge's Aeneas is dynamic and three-dimensional, a marvel in itself. At his first appearance, when he sidles up to Dido with talk of defying destiny for her, he sounds almost wily. He brings considerable forcefulness to his moment of reflection after his encounter with the Spirit. And he holds his own, to the slight degree Purcell allows, in his final encounter with Ms. Graham's furious Dido."--from a review by Allan Kozinn in the New York Times of March 7, 2004, of a recording of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.  The recording can be ordered from amazon.com.
