|About Angelika Kirchschlager|
|Angelika Kirchschlager grew up in Salzburg, and now lives in Vienna.|
|Angelika Kirchschlager and Simon Keenlyside gave recitals together in the United States in February and March 2003.
I attended the recital at Carnegie Hall in New York on Sunday March 2, 2003, at 7:30 p.m. They are both very good singers, but I was unconvinced that they belong together on the same program.
|Angelika Kirchschlager's recording of Bach arias can be ordered from amazon.com and from amazon.de.
"On this well-chosen album of arias from Bach's cantatas and oratorios, her vocal virtues are undeniable -- a stream of beautifully modulated, dusky tone, endless breath, easy coloratura and sweet intensity," wrote T. Hashimoto in the San Francisco Examiner of December 17, 2002.
"Ms. Kirchschlager sings these arias straightforwardly and with evident heart, and with a voice as ravishing as hers, nothing more is needed," wrote David Mermelstein in the New York Times of January 12, 2003, in a review of Angelika Kirchschlager's recording of Bach arias.

Angelika Kirchschlager was to have performed the role of Ariodante, but Playbill Arts reported on March 27 that "yesterday, the Barbican Centre sent out a notice to ticketholders saying that Angelika Kirchschlager, the star mezzo who was to sing the titular hero, had contracted laryngitis and would be replaced by Caitlin Hulcup, a young lyric mezzo from Australia. (Kirchschlager did perform the entire Paris run, which ended on March 22.)"
